  Getting Creative for Charity
Talented Trevor Smith has spent all his spare time for the last 18 months making a huge and impressive dolls house. However, the labour of love will not take pride of place in his Dream Hills home – it will be given away to a stranger.

  San Miguel Bowls Club
Apologies at the outset this week if I miss anything out. Our regular reporter, Shirley Urwin is unfortunately unwell. I have stepped in to keep you informed of the clubs progress. Whilst I'm on that topic. I understand that Michael Assell is also not very well and that Len Brown is back in Elche hospital. Our best wishes to them and may they make a speedy recovery. The last week proved to be a successful week for all our teams, with wins in all quarters. The winter league at home to La Siesta won 8-2. Our SABA team away to newcomers Horadada, won 8-4. The leopards and the Jaguars also faired well, both winning by the same score 8-6 the leopards at home to Monte Mar Toreadors and the jaguars away to Monte Mar Matadors. Last Saturday we were pleased to welcome a touring side from Air Lingus. A great day was had by all and as it was the airlines first game of their tour managed to get of the runway by winning on one rink. The Captain's chicken drive on Sunday saw Alan Palmer winning for the men and for the Ladies, Maureen Turner after a play off with Joy Trew. The eggs for the men went to Bill Williams and for the ladies to Marie Caeckaert. Finally, Friday we had our first full use of the floodlights as we held a charity match in aid of the HELP organisation  of Torrevieja. It was a hugely successful event with over fifty raffle prizes, most of which were donated. On top of it being a great evening we managed to raise in the region of 1200 euros. My thanks on behalf of all our members to Maureen Turner Maureen Duffy and Alan Palmer for helping to set up a truly super evening enjoyed by everybody who attended. Reg Hignett.MBE

  Hindu winner for Volvo Masters
Jeev Milkha Singh certain loves a Volvo! The 34 year old Indian golfer from Chandigarth followed up his victory in the Volvo China Open earlier this year by capturing The European Tour’s season-ending event, the Volvo Masters on his debut appearance at Valderrama. Not for the first time, the Volvo Masters lived up to its billing as a climactic finish to the year. With a gripping sub-plot involving Padraig Harrington just edging out Paul Casey for the Order of Merit crown by the small matter of €35,252 (£23,616), the tournament simply sizzled from start to finish. Indeed going into the final afternoon on the very final day of the season the identity of the European Tour Order of Merit winner still remained a mystery with all four contenders still gunning for the Harry Vardon Trophy.

San Javier Golf Society VB League Team
The San Javier team turned out for the second match of the season at Alenda Golf Course on Friday 6th October against Katie Reillys G.S. The players were sporting their new kit supplied by our sponsors for the season, Clinica Dental Virgen de Los LLanos in El Algar and Sun and Beach Properties.
