SCHF Is On The Verge Of Making Hospice History
With the help of corporate sponsoring from the Jennifer Cunningham y Asociados S.L. and the media appeal, more than a handful of energetic fundraisers, volunteers and Sweet Charity Hospice Fund supporters from La Marina are on the verge of making dreams into reality! Since 2004, Martha Harlam has been tirelessly working to provide the South Costa Blanca with needed Hospice Home care services. The Sweet Charity Hospice Fund has overcome critics, cynics, and beaurocratic barriers which initially hindered the forward progress of the charity. Today, Sweet Charity’s Angel Nursing Network is regarded as a primary source of comfort for families of the ex-pat community, who suffer from the daily pain of end of life situations. The Jennifer Cunningham Consulting Firm is a major mover and shaker in the quest to bring about the expansion of Sweet Charity Hospice Fund’s vision and a hospice could soon be on its way.

Las Ramblas Golf Society with Doug Wright - 14 December
We started the week off on Monday with a Two Ball Spitfire which was won by Tony Whyatt playing with that star golfer Mr. X with a score of 71.0.  Runners up with 72.25 were Nick Campbell & Olga Haubner.  It has not taken Olga long to get back into the swing following her return from Austria.  Wednesday saw us play our Monthly Medal which is not looked forward to by most of us and this showed up in the poor scoring. Only one golfer equalled Par 72 and that was Vega Baja League B Team Acting Captain Dave Pulling.  This is a welcome return to form for Dave who by his own admission has been struggling recently.  The full results were as follows: Cat 1.  1. Dave Pulling 72, 2.  Tom Hardie 74, 3.  Doug Wright 75 on cb from Nick Campbell & Barry Shearman.Cat 2.  1. Ron Percival 77 on cb, 2.  Olga Haubner 77, 3.  Tony Brooks 79.2's Club.  Barry Shearman, Nick Campbell & Reg Akehurst.  We were thin on the ground at Las Ramblas on Friday with only four groups of 4 playing a Change Partners.  The winners with a very good total of 88 pts were the "dream" team of Tom Hardie, Doug Wright, Peter Jenkinson & Tony Brooks.  The B team sponsored by Baron Villas had a Vega Baja League fixture at Alicante Golf against Club 25.  Unfortunately this turned out to be a bit of a disaster with poor scoring resulting in a 4-0 loss.  As we found last week in our A team match the course was playing very long and proved to be too much for our team with the exception of the two Barrys, Holtham & Shearman, who can hold their heads up high with scores of 31 pts.  Let's hope the rest of the team follow their example in the next fixture.
