Dramatic License presents ‘Beyond Reasonable Doubt’
Our next play is ‘Beyond Reasonable Doubt,’ by Jeffrey Archer. Come and join the jury at Teatro Cardenal Belluga, San Fulgencio on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd March and the following week on Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th March at 8.00pmTickets cost 8€ (Buy 10 pay for 8) and are available from Cards’n’Things, Quesada; Cards and More, La Marina; The Card Place, Benimar; QuickSave, Quesada Golf Course, The San Fulgencio Ayuntamiento, or on line from  www.wayahead-publishing.co.uk/dldg The play opens in the Central Criminal Court - the Old Bailey. Sir David Metcalfe, distinguished QC and Chairman of the Bar Council, is conducting the most important defense of his career - his own. Accused of the willful murder of his terminally ill wife, Millicent, Sir David finds himself in legal combat with his old rival, the aptly-named Anthony Blair-Booth. We, the audience, start the play as members of the jury. After a gripping and tense courtroom scene, Act 1 ends just as the foreman is about to deliver our verdict. In Act two, we switch to being observers, as events leading up to the fateful night of Lady Metcalfe’s death unfold. Like so many of Jeffrey Archer’s tales, the play ends with a surprising twist. We have been able to donate 5000€ to The Alzheimer’s Society from our first three productions; Don’t Dress for Dinner, Outside Edge and The Amorous Ambassador. With your support we hope to do even better this time.

  The Mikado
On March 14, 1885, at the Savoy Theatre, London, the first performance of ‘The Mikado’ was staged. Exactly 122 years later, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society in Torrevieja, will open at the Casa de Cultura, Guardamar, with their fully costumed production of what has been rightly considered to be the very best of all G&S Operettas ‘The Mikado’ and, following last week’s photo call, it looks like it could be G&S Society’s best production to date as well with elaborate costumes and an impressive set all promised.

  Jack and the Beanstalk
If you thought the Festive season was all over, you are very much mistaken as there is still have time to catch Campoverde Theatre Group’s spectacular annual pantomime at the magically converted Olympia Annex, Mil Palmeras – with performances from Feb. 21 – Feb. 25, every night at 8pm.

  Adult School Excursion
The ‘Escuela de Adultos de Torrevieja’ (School for Adults), which boasts a number of non-Spanish students, offers an excursion to Almagro (Cuidad Real) from Thursday 8th March to Saturday 10th March. The organisers are enthusiastic to invite more people from the international community and insists that a command of the Spanish language would not be a requirement to the enjoyment of this outing.
