  Jazz In Torrevieja
The stage was set with six musical instruments neatly in place, although all the seats were taken people still waited outside in the hope that a spare seat may be found inside Torrevieja’s Centro Cultura, Virgen del Carmen as ‘All That Jazz’ were waiting in the wings to make their debut on stage in town. From the start of the concert to the end, more than one and a half hours later, it was non stop pure enjoyment for the audience from the six musicians on stage. They jazzed their way through such musical pieces as ‘At the Jazz Ball’, ‘Fidgety Feet’, ‘Shine’, ‘Careless Love’, ‘Petite Fleur’, ‘Shimmy like my Sister Kate’ and much more. Roy Hubbard had the audience joining in with ‘I scream U Scream’ and Barry also had them participating with his vocal solo ‘Smile’. ‘All That Jazz’, alias John Hutchins on trombone, Roy Hubbard Clarinet, Gordon Stevenson trumpet and flugelhorn, Barry Bretton keyboard player, Jackie Heath bass synthesiser and drummer Peter Emuss treated their audience to a superb repertoire of both ‘Jazz’ and ‘Dixieland.’

  Well Done Slimmers
The slimming classes which Jean takes each Friday, 11am at Billy’s Bar on el Chaparal, certainly seem to be successful. The weight loss achieved in her small group since last January has reached an amazing 64 stones and her members are delighted. The class follows a healthy eating regime, with no calorie counting or points system, just a case of watching what you eat. Jean makes her classes interesting by working out recipes for her members and even trying them out at home and fetching the delights to her classes to be enjoyed by all.

The Full Monty Comes To Rojales
To mark the end of their very successful 2005 Variety Show, the RASCALS will be performing their ultimate concert on Saturday October 15th at ‘el teatro Capitol,’ in Rojales.

  Songs From Essex
Inevitably, in Torrevieja, whose deep rooted culture and traditions are firmly fixed in choral music, the town is well used to receiving choristers from the world over. Great Britain has, over the years, been well represented by a number of choirs, most of which coming from the ‘Land of Song’, Wales. This October, however, and by way of a change, the UK’s singing visitors hail from as far afield as Scotland in the north and Essex in the south. The accomplished ‘Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir’ from near Southend will be visiting the ‘city of salt and song’ towards the end of October and will offer concerts both in Torrevieja and nearby Pilar de la Horadada.

  Grand Gala Concert
The Town of Titipu, The Kingdom of Baratavia, a South Pacific Island, Castle Ruddigore, The Tower of London , Penzance in Cornwall.  This could be the itinerary for a grand and expensive holiday and cruise! No its not. ! It is in fact locations chosen by Gilbert and Sullivan as the settings for some of their operettas. You can visit all of these locations (musically speaking) when you purchase an entry ticket to the Age Concern Costa Blanca Sur and Torrevieja Gilbert and Sullivan Society joint production of a “Grand Gala Concert” featuring some of the very best and most popular songs from many operettas.
