  Bravo!
What could be better than watching an excellent concert whilst raising money to help look after abandoned dogs and cats? Well, last Sunday evening around 200 people were doing both and they certainly got their money’s worth when Raquel Peña with her ‘Ballet Español’ dancing troupe put on a superb display of ‘Flamenco’ dancing skills with young girls of around eight years of age taking part, through to more senior ladies some few years older, and of course not forgetting the three talented boys who form ‘Puro Nervio’, Angel Martinez Gonzales now aged 13, Jay Markwick 12 and Raul Fernandez 11years of age.

Student Displays Her ‘Small’ Art Collection
Art lovers will enjoy an exhibition of the work of the painter Ana Navarro Soriano that can be seen in Elche at the centre Casals Jaume Primer, until July 22nd. Ana Navarro is a painter from Elche who is just finishing her fifth year at the University of High Arts in Valencia. The paintings of Ana Navarro are very colourful and have some kind of a ‘naïve’ touch. The themes are mainly urban landscapes with façades of houses and buildings. Why this attraction for this landscape? “I’m just starting, and you usually begin painting what you have close to you. In my case, houses are all around me and I think some of them are very beautiful to paint. Some of the paintings are from pictures that I took in Valencia or during a trip, like the ones that I painted from Holland” explains Ana Navarro.

Elche Guitar Festival Celebrates Its 7th Year
The Elche Guitar Festival will celebrate its 7th edition between 4-8 of July. The concerts will be held at the cloister of San José Library, due to the fantastic acoustics, which has been praised by the guitar players. The concerts will be played between the San José Library and the recently restored Odeón Movie theatre. The festival includes a contest for young guitar players who are just starting, and six courses of classic and electric guitar. The guitar players are Frank Solari, Juan Luis Nicolau (last year’s winner) Margarita Escarpa, Tribaul Cauvin and the Flamenco guitar player “Fraskito”.
