  The ‘Misteri d’Elx’ Festival
It is not known exactly when the Mystery Plays where first performed in Elche but it does date back to at least the 13th Century and was first documented by local historian Cristobal Sanz in the early seventeenth century

  Facts About Elche
Elche is well worth a visit even if you aren’t going to see the Mystery Play. The town is situated on the Vinalopó River and has a population of around 200,000 people. The earliest recorded human remains date from the Neolithic period, or about 5,000 B.C. In the fifth century B.C. it became known as Helike and the famous ‘Dama de Elche’ statue dates to this period. The statue depicts an Iberian priestess in ceremonial robes and is considered one of the most important Iberian art works ever found. Models of the statue can be seen in various places in the town.

  Sea and Fishing Museum
The Sea and Fishing Museum in Santa Pola is a journey of the town from different views from its past to its present. While the town is a poplar summer spot for Spanish and a growing number of British, its wealth and importance still lies in fishing and the industry from the port, and the museum is set to ensure people never forget that.

  The Running of the Bulls.
To many it may seem like a death wish and indeed, many a year people end up seriously injured or indeed killed, but the tradition of the  ‘Sanfermines’ fiesta remains as strong as ever and continues across Spain until the 14th of July.

‘Ceutimagina’ – A Space for Art and Science.
‘Ceutimagina’ is a wonderful exhibition for anyone with a scientific mind.
