  On Your Marks, Get Set...Go!
When in 1952, a British man called “Mr. B Francis” invented a metal-bodied model racing car containing a unique type of clockwork motor, he couldn’t have imagined that he was giving birth to a hobby or sport that today has millions of fans. Mr. Francis called his invention “Scale-X”, because of the size.

Top Welsh Soloist Joins Llangwm in Torrevieja Concerts.
Currently one of Wales’s most sought after soloists, Trebor Lloyd Evans, an accomplished and award-winning bass / baritone, has agreed to join forces with the ‘Llangwm Male Choir’ when they visit Torrevieja in May. Under the musical direction of Bethan Smallwood and accompanied by the talented Rhian Jones, the male voice choir will offer two benefit concerts on Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th May in the ‘Inmaculada Church’ and the ‘Palacio de la Música’ respectively.

  Feria De Mayo.
After several weeks of work on the preparations at Torrevieja’s fairground, the setting up of the huge 200 square-metre stage, the erection of the ‘casetas’ and facilities for  public services, everything is nearly in place for the towns most exciting annual fiesta, the ‘Feria de Mayo.’ At 9.00pm on Wednesday evening, 4th May, Torrevieja’s Mayor, Pedro Hernandez Mateo, will officially declare the annual May Fair well and truly open. The ‘casetas’ will become aglow with an array of light as the skies are illuminated with fireworks. Ladies, children and even babes in arms will be dressed in traditional flamenco style adding to the river of colour and excitement. The ‘Sevillanas’ music and dancing will begin at full volume and continue for five consecutive nights until the early hours of the following Monday morning!

  European Day Celebrations
This year, Torrevieja’s annual ‘European Day’ celebrations will take place on Sunday 8th May. The change of date to a day earlier than the actual celebration of 9th May, has been decided because of the great success of last year’s event which, by chance, fell on a Sunday when hundreds of local European residents enjoyed a family morning out in the ‘Garden of the Nations’.

Museo del Mar y de la Sal
The ‘Museo del Mar y de la Sal’ was founded in February 1995 by Torrevieja’s Mayor Pedro Hernández Mateo in order to preserve Torrevieja’s history. To help to achieve this, many people have contributed precious artefacts to this museum.
