  Lemon Tree Editorial
Sue and Joe Wilson had a dream of opening their own restaurant and after pouring their heart and soul, as well as a lot of their finances, in to their dream they now have a restaurant to be proud of as two years after opening, The Lemon Tree is thriving. Based in La Marina village the couple can now boast a highly successful restaurant, which has grown from word of mouth with many customers, both English and Spanish travelling from the neighbouring urbanisations and further afield. So what is their recipe for success? “It is based on good quality home cooking.” believes Joe, whose wife creates all of the culinary delights herself after having a catering business back in the UK. With a menu that changes seasonally diners can currently enjoy everything from steaks and Cajun chicken to salmon filets and tortilla wraps. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu offering a welcome change for diners who can enjoy dishes such as spicy vegetarian chilli, Mediterranean bake, Lemon Tree tagliatelle or mushrooms and ale bake with stilton cheese. Joe says “We are glad we chose the village because of the potential growth and influx of British people.  It has meant we have had to work a lot harder to make people realise we are here and apart from advertising we rely on reputation and word of mouth.” The Lemon Tree is a restaurant offering relaxed dining in a spacious and classic setting where the focus is on good food with background music so customers can enjoy their meal and own company. “The general consensus is that this year has been a quieter year than last year but we have seen our turnover increase from last year and we expect it will again next year.” The Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening 3-course carvery remains as popular as everwhere booking is advisable, even more so now the cooler weather is approaching as there will only be inside dining available.  To end another successful year for The Lemon Tree and to see in the next, Joe and Sue are now taking bookings for the Christmas Day Menu and New Years Eve celebrations. Already they have some repeat bookings from last year, but now the menu is finalised they expect to be fully booked. Christmas Day’s 5 course meal costs a reasonable 50€ and will be in the form of their top carvery, including traditional roast sirloin of beef and yorkshire pudding; roast crown of turkey with cranberry sauce; honey roasted gammon with zest of orange and mustard; chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon; stuffing and sausage meat wedges accompanied by a wide range of vegetables. Your table is yours for the duration as there is just one sitting. “We want people to feel as relaxed as they would be in their own dining room.” Their New Years Eve costs 55€ for a night of celebrations with a disco and fireworks and the buffet will display a host of tempting delights of cold meat, fish, cheeses, salads, quiches and desserts.  For more information or to book call The Lemon Tree on 96 541 95 98 or see the main advert on page 25.
